Newborn Photography Toronto

A natural light BABy photographer

I’m a newborn photographer who loves to document the authentic moments of your family's new chapter, whether you're a first time parent or adding another baby to the mix.

NaturaL Moments

My sessions capture all the perfect details of your little one. I focus on “baby-led” posing (e.g. arms outstretched mid-yawn or snuggling in mom’s arms). My goal is to capture every little detail and to create photos that are authentic and filled with love.

In-HoME Sessions

I offer sessions that allow you to relax in teh comfort of your home without having to worry about travelling during the early days of life with a baby. Alternatively in-studio sessions are also available if you’d prefer a different look for your session (studio fees apply).

Flexible timing

There isn’t a perfect time for a newborn lifestyle photo shoot. Many parents prefer to take pictures during the first two weeks when their baby is more sleepy and tiny, while others would rather wait to give themselves time to settle in (older babies are more alert and expressive). Since babies are unpredictable, we’ll schedule your exact session date once the baby arrives but it’s best to book several months in advance.

I’ll also take pictures of your baby with the family, including pictures of mom, dad, and sibling photos (if you have an older child). Don’t stress about their cooperation or capturing the perfect photo. Toddlers have short attention spans but I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to make it enjoyable for your older child.

FAQS

Here are some of my most commonly asked questions

Q. WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT DURING OUR SESSION?

A.  My goal is for the session to feel relaxed and to capture this crazy yet wonderful time. I go with the flow for newborn sessions with lots of breaks for feeding, diaper changes, etc. Your newborn is perfect just the way they are, so I don’t place babies in unnatural poses or stress if they won't sleep during the session.

Q. HOW CAN WE PREPARE FOR A PHOTO SHOOT?

A. I recommend feeding the baby as much as they want about fifteen minutes prior to my arrival. Babies like warmth, so it’s helpful to have the house a little warmer than usual. If you have an extra minute, please do a quick tidy of the primary bedroom, living room and any other rooms you think might be good to photograph (i.e. those with lots of natural light). But don’t worry about it being clean  (I promise the camera won’t care if you you’ve vacuumed or not!).

Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF MY HOME IS SMALL/DARK/MESSY?

A. There is almost always a bit of natural light shining through your house but I’ll also bring a flash if we need an extra bit of light. When I arrive I'll scout out the best-lit areas for family shots. I can move things around easily and I will choose angles to minimize distractions and focus on your lovely little family.

Q. HELP - I HATE HAVING MY PHOTO TAKEN AND THERE IS NO WAY MY OLDER CHILD WILL SIT STILL!

A. Even though my pictures look candid, I provide lots of direction to help you feel natural in front of the camera. And it’s much easier to have your photo taken with a baby in your arms vs. being alone in front of the camera. For the majority of our session you'll be interacting with your family so we can get more authentic and less posed shots.  And if your baby’s older sibling is still adjusting to life with a newborn (or has a tonne of energy!), we’ll play lots games to keep it fun and light-hearted.

Q. WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

A. Neutrals look nice but soft pops of colour can also work nicely. It’s best to coordinate outfits as opposed to having everyone matching too much. When I arrive it’s a good idea to have your baby wrapped in blankets to keep warm and wearing an outfit you’d like your baby to wear, such as a neutral, form fitting onesie (one that doesn’t cover feet). I can also take photos in any other favourite outfits. If you have nice blankets they are great to use but I’ll also bring a couple of my own.
